Who else needs a relaxing vacation?
by Andrea Powell, HPCCR Marketing Manager
Over three weeks ago, in an attempt by me and my husband to get away from the kids for a few days, we went out to Utah to go skiing. On our first ski run (on the first day, of course), I fell and broke my shoulder. Long story short, we were on a red-eye home that night and I had surgery a few days later. Needless to say, my typing skills have suffered somewhat.
It has been suggested to me by many friends (ok, all of them) that perhaps for our next vacation, my husband and I should choose something a little more low-key. I tell you all this because I have the perfect opportunity to make that suggestion a reality. I can bid on some fantastic (non-dangerous) vacations at the Lake Norman Hospice Regatta Party being held this Saturday night in Cornelius.
If you’ve been a subscriber to this blog for a while, you’re probably pretty familiar with this awesome party by now. Held each year at the beautiful Peninsula Club, the Lake Norman Hospice Regatta Party is an exciting evening of music, food, games, and live and silent auctions. All proceeds benefit Hospice & Palliative Care Lake Norman so it ends up being a really fun night that helps a truly worthy organization. The party is being presented this year by Keller Williams Luxury Homes International and a HUGE thank you goes out to this most generous organization!
Last year, we introduced electronic bidding and it was an enormous success. By simply registering your cell phone (smart phone or not), you can bid and then automatically keep tabs on the items you’re interested in. No hovering. No constantly checking bid sheets to see if someone else is trying to steal your item from you. In fact, the silent auction site is already live! If you are planning on coming to the party on Saturday night, you can start bidding NOW!
Now, the live auction items are the ones I should really be thinking about. A Lake Norman dinner cruise for six? That sounds like a peaceful evening, and fairly low on the danger meter. Or maybe the trip to the Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort & Spa. This shoulder could use a spa day. The trip (first class airline tickets!) includes four days and three nights and daily breakfast. I can certainly use my left hand to pull those slot machine arms. And how relaxing does a four-night stay in Bermuda sound? This injury has really stressed me out. A few days relaxing on a beach couldn’t hurt. . . .
Even if you’re not looking for a lengthy trip or fantastic jewelry (sapphire and diamond ring, anyone?), there are plenty of golf packages, wines, restaurant packages, artwork, salon offers, sporting event opportunities, and more. All just one touch away on your phone. A tip: charge your phone before you come! You don’t want to lose out on that night at the Grove Park Inn because your battery died!
The forecast for Saturday could not be more perfect for this party; it should be a beautiful evening. Along with the usual delicious food, there will be fun music, and an inspiring speaker. And you’ll have an opportunity to support Hospice & Palliative Care Lake Norman during the “Raise Your Hands & Hearts” portion of the evening. You’ll go home well-fed, emotionally fulfilled, and hopefully toting some awesome merchandise!
If I don’t end up with a trip to Vegas or Bermuda, I might have to guilt my husband into bidding on some jewelry. Just like they say, “Pain is temporary, but diamonds are forever.” (Someone said that, right? Right? Well, if they didn’t, they really should have.)
The Lake Norman Hospice Regatta Party (presented by Keller Williams Luxury Homes International) starts at 6:30pm at the Peninsula Club in Cornelius.
