We’ve got your fun in September!
by Andrea Powell, HPCCR Electronic Communications Manager
Now that September is upon us and the lazy days of summer are slowly fading away (even the summer temps have temporarily faded!), we are all returning to “busy” mode. School is back, kids have returned to school (Do you hear that noise? It’s the gleeful cheer of millions of stay-at-home parents!), committees are reforming, book clubs are gearing back up, and our collective heads are spinning. Well, at Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region, we know just what you need. MORE events! Seriously, why not add a few others to your calendar in September? Especially when they support such a great cause — hospice care for our community. Oh, and they are all fun. Really, really fun. More fun than the other things on your calendar, we promise!
First up, we’ve got Hit The Brixx on Saturday, September 15. This one’s got it all — a 5k race, a 10k race, and a memorial walk. And, if you time it right, you can run BOTH the 5k and 10k. Madness, right? But the rewards are aplenty — free Brixx pizza and beer for all participants. It’ll make you forget the other boring things on your calendar, that’s for sure! Plus, this event benefits KidsPath®, our pediatric program for children. This is seriously a win-win for all involved. To register, go to runforyourlife.com or visit our event page for more information.
Next up, we’ve got Taste of Birkdale on Saturday, September 29. You can sample great food from some of Birkdale Village’s famous restaurants, taste some great wines, and finish up the evening with a preview of the “it” fashions for fall. The fun begins at 3pm and ends after the fashion show at 7pm. Which is perfect because you’ll need to be ready for your early morning start the next day. (Just wait, you’ll see.) For more information about this entertaining affair (that benefits Hospice & Palliative Care Lake Norman), check out the event page on our website.
You can end your action-packed month at our 5th annual Pedal The Park on Sunday, September 30. As long as you didn’t “over sample” the wine at Taste of Birkdale the previous day, you’ll have plenty of energy from eating all those delicious treats from Birkdale restaurants (see, I told you it would all come together). Which means you’ll have no problem completing the 30 or 60-mile route through Mecklenburg, Iredell, and Cabarrus counties. Both rides begin and end at Levine & Dickson Hospice House (the beneficiary of this event) and culminate in more yummy, leg-restoring goodies. Fresh air, exercise, and good food. What more could you ask for? Go to pedalthepark.org for information and to register.
So yes, now you’re in “busy” mode and there are probably a lot of things on your calendar that you’re not all that excited about. But that doesn’t mean you to have to sacrifice the fun. Join us for these awesome events in September. We promise you’ll be happy that you did. How happy? Happier than those gleeful, childless, stay-at-home parents who are currently relishing the newfound silence. Now that’s happy.Explore posts in the same categories: awareness, Hit the Brixx, hospice, Hospice & Palliative Care Lake Norman, Levine & Dickson Hospice House, Pedal The Park, special events comment below, or link to this permanent URL from your own site.
