The perfect Saturday night

Last year's amazing ice sculpture

If you’ve already got your tickets, you’re one of the lucky ones.

This Saturday, April 28, we are hosting our annual Lake Norman Hospice Regatta Party.  But this is the first year in its history that we’re having it on a Saturday.  Looks like it’s a change for the better.  Because tickets got snapped up quicker than Price’s fried chicken on the 4th of July.  (That’s a Charlotte reference, folks.  If you out-of-towners ever make it to our fair city, you must — I repeat — must visit Price’s Chicken Coop).

Seriously, we are flat sold out of tickets.

With so many people coming to the party, sounds like competition is going to be stiff for the auction items.  Which means that you need to get a head start on your fellow party-goers and do some research on the items up for bid.  As always, we’ve got some great stuff up for grabs.

So what are you in the mood for?  A trip?  We’ve got everything from a week in the Cayman Islands to one night at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville.  What about jewelry?  We’ve got gorgeous pieces from Perry’s at Southpark as well as other local jewelers.  Maybe you’re ready to get serious about your golf game.  We’ve got packages from some of the prettiest courses in the area.  We also have personal chef services, paddleboard lessons (for you adventurous types!), a hammock (for you non-adventurous types), bowling for 20 of your closest friends, and a three-course meal for ten at a great uptown Mexican restaurant.  For all you Tarheels, we’ve got four tickets to the UNC — Maryland game.  And if you’ve ever dreamed of going to Dollywood, you can make it happen on Saturday night with a generous bid.

Yep, that sounds like a lot, huh?  But that’s not even half of what’s available.  Check out our event page for a more complete listing (which still won’t tell you everything available) or just let yourself be surprised by all the good deals and awesome things to bid on when you get there.

Auction items notwithstanding, the event is just so much fun.  The dinner buffet is rather fabulous, the music is a blast, and our emcee, WSOC’s Blair Miller, will entertain you all night.  Plus, the proceeds will benefit Hospice & Palliative Care Lake Norman, a very worthy cause in my humble opinion.  You’ll watch the sun set over the golf course, feast on succulent food, and nicely chat up your best friends while, behind their backs, you viciously outbid them for the groovy auction items.  Who could ask more of a Saturday night??

Me, I’ll be bidding for that hammock.  Because if last year’s Regatta Party is any indication, I’m going to need to put my feet up after all the fun.  And I’ll let you adventurous types fight it out for the paddleboard lessons.  Or Dollywood.

The fun starts at 6:30pm at the Peninsula Club in Cornelius.  For more information, contact Nancy Cole, Manager of Special Events, at 704.335.4312.  Hospice & Palliative Care Lake Norman is a regional office of Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region.
