Thank you, Kohl’s associates!

So as you know (if you regularly read this blog), our awesomely fun event, Hit The Brixx 5K/10K Run/Walk, took place over the weekend.  It was a seamless morning and everything went off without a hitch.  That’s because our manager of special events, Nancy Cole, is amazing and has event coordination down to a science.  Honestly, she makes it look easy.  But what you probably don’t know (because Nancy is that good) is that it takes a lot of effort to manage a big  event like Hit The Brixx from start to finish.  It requires the help of countless volunteers, staff, friends, and family.  And there is one particular company we’d like to thank, because a group of their associates came out early Saturday morning to give us a hand, and then gave us a donation (in the form of a grant) to boot.

You know Kohl’s Department Stores, right?  The place where you can find brand-name items, from clothing to appliances, for really great prices?  Well, they have a program called Kohl’s Cares (also called Associates in Action).  It was created to encourage their associates to volunteer in their local communities.  And their generous employees do just that.  When five or more associates  from one location volunteer for a minimum of three consecutive hours in one day to an organization, Kohl’s will provide a $500 grant to that organization (in our case, our KidsPath® pediatric program). 

We had seven wonderful Kohl’s associates show up for duty in the dark hours of Saturday morning.  Despite the chilly temperature and the forecast for drizzle, they came and they willingly did whatever was asked of them.  While we greatly appreciate the grant (every bit helps!), we just can’t put a price on manpower!

So thank you, Kohl’s associates.  Seriously, you guys are the best!  We’ll try to provide better weather next year.  But you’ll still have to show up early!
