Can you let her go?
by Andrea Powell, HPCCR Marketing Manager
Can you see it? She’s barely managing to keep it together. But she’s trying. You know why? Because she loves you all so much. She’s willing to keep fighting if YOU want her to, even though she’s so tired of treatment she can hardly stand it. But she’ll do it for you if you ask it of her.
That’s one definition of love, isn’t it? Sacrificing your own happiness for the sake of others? That’s what she’s willing to do for all of you.
What about you? Are you thinking more about yourself? How much you’ll miss her? How it will be so hard carrying on without her? Maybe that’s what you’re doing and you don’t even realize it. Of course you don’t want to let her go. That’s natural. But is it fair?
She’s willing to sacrifice for you. Can you do the same for her?
She’s in so much pain.
She’s ready for hospice care. She’s ready for the experts to control her pain. She’s ready for some quality of life. She wants her remaining time to be spent with you, the people she loves so much. Can you let her have that?
If you focus just on her — just on how completely exhausted she is — does it change your perspective? When you look at her, really look at her, do you think you can sacrifice your happiness for hers? It’s time.
She’s ready to let go. Can you let her?Explore posts in the same categories: cancer, end of life, grief, hospice comment below, or link to this permanent URL from your own site.
